Kaseya MSP’s are among some of the most successful in the marketplace today. With the melancholy outlook for 2009, we here at Kaseya are curious to hear what your clients are experiencing. I believe IT will play a large role in the coming year and could either be a catalyst or an inhibitor?
I read a post today from Stuart Crawford titled Are You a Trusted Business Advisor? What I enjoyed most about his message was his description of how he sees himself.
I took the responsibility to create long term relationships with local and national vendors and facilitated the introduction, decision making and eventually the deployment of a new solution. I was involved throughout the process…
For so many years I have been educating IT Managers, IT Consultants, and Break Fix organizations to change their frame of reference. As a former MSP, I believe Technology consultants should be involved in decisions to help business owners and executives make good decisions. In my opinion, here is the simplest way to get started down this path. Ask your client these 5 questions:
- What business problems do you need to resolve?
- How are you trying to resolve these problems today?
- What is working really well?
- What is not working really well?
- What is your desired result?
Too many times IT types sit outside the board room and wait for management to run into their office and say “we are buying XYZ CRM system!” I have actually watched businesses spend tens of thousands of dollars on new technology when their desired result could have been met with existing tools.
So what are the tactical next steps to becoming a Trusted Advisor?
- Call your top 5 clients and ask for a meeting during the month of January.
- Ask them the 5 questions above.
I guarantee you that this simple exercise will change the way you do business and the way your clients perceive you. Once you have completed this task, contact me on Twitter or comment on this post. I want to hear your success stories!
Happy Holidays to All!!!
